The ePM2.5 65% bag filter is the workhorse of commercial air handling — a pocket filter designed for general final filtration in AHUs and ventilation systems across offices, schools, hospitals, retail and industrial settings. Under the previous EN 779 standard this grade was known as F7, and it remains the most widely specified bag filter in UK HVAC.
Its multiple fabric pockets provide a large media surface area, giving excellent dust-holding capacity and a long service life while keeping resistance to airflow low. The ePM2.5 65% rating means it captures at least 65% of fine particulate matter down to 2.5 microns — enough to make a real difference to indoor air quality, trapping fine dust, pollen and a good proportion of airborne particles.
Where it’s installed: typically as the final filtration stage in an AHU, downstream of a coarse or ePM10 pre-filter that protects it from bulk debris.
Why choose it: it’s the sensible default for most commercial ventilation — a genuine step up in air quality over coarse filtration, without the higher resistance and cost of finer ePM1 grades. If you’re replacing an existing F7 bag, this is your like-for-like.
A note on classification: the old EN 779 F7 grade and the current ISO 16890 ePM2.5 65% grade are closely related but not an exact one-to-one conversion — the two standards measure efficiency differently. F7 is best treated as the historical equivalent rather than an identical rating.
